He appreciated the RT/RW management's initiative to put up banners prohibiting parking on the road as a form of outreach and education.

"Very good. If there are still vehicles parked on the roadside, we can coordinate with the Transportation Agency to take action ranging from OCP (valve removal operation) to towing or a fine by Rp 500,000," he explained.

Suparmo, Community Leader from RT 11/09 said that the banner measuring 2x1 meters was put up to overcome the recurring illegal parking on residential streets.

"We put up it in a strategic place and easily seen by people passing by. The neighborhood streets are small, surely it will be very annoying if someone parks there," he stressed.

He explained the banner installation was the result of discussions with local urban village officials as a form of outreach and education. Vehicle owners who do not have a parking space can use available locations.

"If you have to pay, that's part of the consequences, but it's better for vehicle owners to feel safer leaving their vehicles," he stressed.

Windarto (55), a local resident hoped that illegal parking could be minimized after the banner was installed.

"The point is the orderliness, tidiness and comfort of this environment is a shared responsibility," he stated.
