Local Residents Repair Pengantin Bridge in Untung Jawa

The resident of Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, Seribu Selatan Sub-district, Seribu Island together with Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) are repairing Pengantin bridge.

Pokdarwis Puja Berhias of Untung Jawa Island Head, Rusli, said the Pengantin bridge is one of iconic and tourist destination in Seribu Island.

"As many as 70 people are participating in this communal work, including PPSU personnel," he said, Monday (1/29).

He admitted that the bridge's girder is already broken since last year. Previously, the repair was run in September 2023 by the urban village side. In fact, the waves made the girder broken.

The bridge is repaired along 50 meters and width 1.5 meters. The cost is taken from Pokdarwis and resident of Untung Jawa Island.

"The girder used PVC material. Now we concrete it to be more strong," he added.

According to him, Untung Jawa Island is one of destinations that is always visited by tourists in weekend. That is why his side targeting to complete the repair immediately.

"The concreting is now reaching eight meters or 16 percent. Rain makes the concrete takes longer to dry," he stated.

Meanwhile, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Sidartawan, appreciated the residents for participating in repairing the bridge.

"We also deploy 15 PPSU personnel every day. It is a good cooperation between residents and government," he said.

He hoped the repair can be completed faster for the sake of tourist's safety.

"Thanks for the residents who already participating in the communal work. It is hoped the repair can be completed soon," he closed.
