Jakarta TPID Identifies 2024 Risk to Support Jakarta Global City

It was discussed during Capacity Building program held by Jakarta Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia Representative Office, Thursday (2/1) at Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Jakarta Bank Indonesia Representative Office Head, Arlyana Abubakar, said the inflation rate in Jakarta is relatively stable. In fact, future various situations and issues must be anticipated to avoid uncontrolled inflation.

"This activity is to provide an inside look at the latest economic developments that need to be observed and may have an impact on Jakarta's inflation achievement," she said.

Situation and issue discussed in the program are global economic conditions have not changed much compared to the previous year, so global inflation rates still tend to be relatively high.

Next is global geopolitical issues are still continuing and starting to have an impact on food commodities. This situation has an impact on imports because sending goods must detour through routes to avoid conflict areas and this has an impact on prices.

On the other hand, national conditions are currently facing weather that is affected by global climate change, ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr as well as children's school holidays. Apart from that, the second round of elections and simultaneous regional elections are also part of the issues that need to be anticipated to avoid inflation.

She added that this meeting was also used to discuss the latest developments in the 2024 cost of living survey which will be used as a basis for calculating inflation.

"The survey is valid since January 2024 to replace previous survey in 2018," she added.

According to her, anticipating the uncontrolled inflation can not be done by holding such meeting or do it only once.

"Similar meeting must be held continuously and implementing the meeting result," she continued.

As the example, she stated, Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono initiated high level meeting together with West Java and Banten's TPID last year.

"The meeting must be responded well such as holding planting chili program and cheap market," she concluded.
