Some Tips to Keep Your Home Fire-Safe During Mudik Trips

The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) urged people who will take mudik (exodus) to ensure the safety of their homes.

And make sure all electricity sources are safe from flammable objects

Jakarta BPBD shares tips for preventing fires when returning home. First, remove the regulator from the gas cylinder and make sure the stove is off. Then, remove the plug and electrical equipment from the socket if not in use.

"And make sure all electricity sources are safe from flammable objects," expressed Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Isnawa Adji, Thursday (4/4).

He also urged residents who want to go home to leave their house keys with someone they trust and report their departure to the RT/RW administrator or security officer. These tips need to be done, thus the abandoned house is safe from potential disasters.

"The public can use these tips to avoid potential fires which often strike when the house is abandoned by its occupants during mudik trips," he added.

As for information, the Jakarta Siaga 112 emergency service continues to operate 24 hours and is ready to serve the public if they experience or find an emergency that requires help.
