Dishub: Main and Backup Terminals Prepared for Idul Fitri Mudik Services

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has prepared four main terminals and three backup terminals for Idul Fitri mudik this year.

We prepare a backup terminal

Those main terminals are Kampung Rambutan, Kalideres, Tanjung Priok, and Integrated Pulogadung terminals. As for the backup terminals, they are namely Muara Angke, Lebak Bulus, and Grogol terminals.

Jakarta Transportation Agency (dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo said the backup terminal became a buffer for the main terminal. It aimed to minimize the buildup of passengers and AKAP buses in main terminals in order to prevent traffic jams or choas in one location.

"For instance, the buses are supposed to go through Kalideres Terminal but full, they must be diverted. If they continue to force their way into Kalideres, there will be queues outside, resulting in traffic jams along Jalan Daan Mogot. So, we prepare a backup terminal, thus passengers going home can return to their hometowns, we here don't get stuck in traffic jams because buses pile up at one point," he expressed, Monday (4/1).

Aside that, the facilities and infrastructure, as well as supporting facilities at the main and backup terminals had also been prepared, including testing bus crewa who undergo ramp checks or safety inspection checks for every bus that will depart.

Along with it, the Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) also prepared medics to hold a medical checkup, as well as drug and alcohol free tests.

"Hopefully, when the bus departs everything is ready, roadworthy, and its administrative requirements are met, including the human resources," he expressed.

He added the Dishub had prepared 2,250 buses from 152 autobus companies (POs) in Jakarta. 150 backup buses would also be on standby to anticipate a surge in passengers.

"If the bus full, the backup bus will help to carry passengers. If the number of passengers waiting exceeds 12 hours, the bus must be dispatched using backup bus," he stated.
