"The training is held yearly. It is aimed to advance diving skill of local residents and tour guide, as well as conservationists," she said, Thursday (5/16).

Rita explained this first wave of participants received basic training in the form of an introduction to the theory of diving techniques and continued with diving practice in the waters of Pramuka Island. If participants pass the competency test, they will receive Basic Diving certification.

"We will hold further training for A1 (Open Water Scuba Diving) certification in July. This advanced training is for participants earlier this year and last year's participants who have not received further training," she explained.

According to her, diving activities require adequate skills and a diving license or permit. It is hoped that after receiving this training the participants will be able to improve their economy, one of which is becoming a tour guide or professional diver.

Meanwhile, one of participants, Ahmad Ibnu (25), residents of Harapan Island, appreciated and thanked the sub-agency for holding the training.

"Through this training I can improve my swimming and diving skills to the bottom of the sea. Hopefully this training can be sustainable so that youth in the Seribu Islands have diving skills and can easily find work," he admitted.
