Poverty Rate in C. Jakarta will Decline Mayor Says

Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Chaidir, is optimistic that the poverty rate in his area will decrease this year compared to the previous year.

BPS data shows that the trend of poverty rates in Central Jakarta continues to decline

He emphasized it when he led the 2024 poverty reduction monitoring and evaluation (monev) coordination meeting attended by all People's Welfare sections, eight urban villages, and 44 sub-districts, Monday (5/27) in the Large Multipurpose Room of the Central Jakarta Mayor's Office.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the poverty rate trend in Central Jakarta has decreased from around 4.9 percent in 2022 to 4.6 percent in 2023.

He hoped that his staff at the sub-district and urban village level could map and inventory data as best as possible, thus no resident is left out of poverty reduction interventions.

If everything goes optimally, he is optimistic that in 2024, mitigation interventions will further reduce the poverty rate in Central Jakarta.

"BPS data shows that the trend of poverty rates in Central Jakarta continues to decline. We're optimistic that with the various interventions conducted, it will decrease further this year," he asserted.

Central Jakarta City Secretary for People'd Welfare Section Head, Joehandi explained poverty alleviation interventions in Central Jakarta would involve budgets from the APBD and CSR.

He cited various interventions through programs funded by the APBD such as improving the quality of human resources through various training by UKPD, UKM development and social assistance.

"There are also Baznas Bazis who carry out house renovation programs. Then use CSR to overcome stunting," he stated.
