2,429 Qurban Animals in North Jakarta Undergo Health Examination

As many as 2,429 qurban animals from 42 out of 117 shelters spread across six sub-districts have undergone health examination process initiated by the North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP).

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto said the 2,429 qurban animals examined were cows, goats, and sheep.

According to him, administrative checks were also held in the area where the qurban animals came from and health checks of the qurban animals included the health of their nails, body, mouth, tongue, and so forth.
"We also check the cleanliness and suitability of the shelter. The examination results of all animals to date are in good and healthy condition," he explained.
At that time, officers only found underage animals. So, they were immediately separated and marked with a cross so that they would not be mixed up with other animals.
"They (queban animal) must comply with Islamic rules and sharia. We continue to educate the sellers of animals," he explained.
He added the shelters and animals which jad passed the examination would receive an Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) and a sticker as a proof.
"Residents want to find or buy qurban animals so they are informed and don't feel worried or afraid," he added.
Predictably, shelters and the number of qurban animals in Jakarta would continue to increase. Because, in 2023, there were about 157 animals shelters in North Jakarta with with sales of qurban animals reaching 9,704, consisting of 3,450 cows, 5,693 goats, and 561 sheep.
"Until the day of Idul Adha, we will keep intensfying examination, socialization about slaughtering, and selection of qurban meat. We want this qurban procession to be more meaningful for others and for the meat that the mustahiq (recipients) receive to be safe and healthy for consumption," he closed.
