Heru: Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2024 Opening Declares Jakarta as Indonesia's Catalysator Economy

Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2024 is officially launched. This big event initiated by PT Jakarta International Expo was officially opened by President Joko Widodo accompanied by Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (6/12).

People can get entertainment and shopping at affordable prices

President Jokowi appreciated the holding of the 55th Jakarta Fair Kemayoran. He said that the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran is an event that is eagerly awaited by the community, both Jabodetabek residents and residents from various regions in Indonesia. According to him, the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran can attract public interest because it presents various events, from shopping at discounted prices to concerts by Indonesian musicians.

"People can get entertainment and shopping at affordable prices. This is what is interesting about the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran which has been held for the 55th time. And last year it was visited by more than 6 million visitors. This is also an extraordinary achievement," Jokowi said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

Acting Jakarta Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, stated that Jakarta Fair Kemayoran has a long history that is deeply rooted in Jakarta culture. Starting from a small exhibition in the Monas area, the Jakarta Fair has now transformed into a modern exhibition event in Kemayoran, as well as a stage for various superior Indonesian products.

"In 2023, the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran was participated by 2,500 exhibitors consisting of micro, small and medium businesses as well as private businesses. Within 32 days of implementation, economic transactions worth Rp 7.3 trillion were generated, with a total of 6 million visitors," Heru stated.

This year's Jakarta Fair Kemayoran has the theme 'Jakarta Fair Supports National Economic Growth in Indonesia and is Able to Compete in the World Market'. In line with this theme, Acting Governor Heru emphasized Jakarta's role as a catalyst for the Indonesian economy and supporting the transformation towards a global city.

"Based on the 2023 Global City Index report published by Kearney, Jakarta is ranked 74th out of 156 cities in the world. This is an encouragement for the Jakarta Provincial Government to continue to strive to optimize the city's potential so that it is on par with other developed cities in the world," Heru added.

Heru hopes that the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran will continue to be a means of promoting international quality local industrial excellence and innovation. He also invited all Indonesian people to come to Jakarta and enliven the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2024.

"The participation of companies and business actors from various countries in the Jakarta Fair event has also been proven to contribute significantly to the Indonesian economy and create opportunities for international cooperation," Heru continued.

Meanwhile, PT Jakarta International Expo Director, Karuna Murdaya, explained the event is held from June 12 to July 14, 2024.

"We are allowed to celebrate the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2024 with enthusiasm and create a spectacular exhibition event to promote trade and creative industries for various superior products from domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, it is a means of entertainment for the people of Jakarta and Indonesia as well as participants from within and outside the country," he explained.
