Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri said painting the embankment is part of routine maintenance efforts, as well as a contribution to improving the aesthetics of welcoming Jakarta's 497th anniversary.
"We paint the embankments with various colors to make them more pleasing to the eye and become a special attraction," he expressed, Thursday (6/20).
Eroded Embankment on Jalan Wijaya Timur RepairedHe explained the embankment was painted along a length of 776 meters, covering the outer walls with a height of up to one meter. Predictably, painting the embankment took approximately 15 cans of paint.
"It was done manually by deploying four personnel who started working at the end of last May and is targeted for completion next week," he explained.
Besides being able to beautify the area, the presence of bright colored paint on the embankment can mark the boundary line for Kelapa Island from a distance.
"This bright color will help ship captains, especially at night," he added.
The work received appreciation from RW 04 Kelapa Island Chairman, Ali Maulana.
"Kelapa Island is a tourist destination, so it must look beautiful, clean, and attractive," he stated.
