As many as 40 participants from urban village, Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency (BKPRMI), RT, RW, LMK, FKDM, PKK and Karang Taruna caretakers, participated disaster handling training, Wednesday (7/3).

The program initiated by Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) was held at RPTRA Udara Segar, Batu Ampar Urban Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

"Our target is to hold the socialization in 50 urban villages. Schools are also our target next month," he said.
The material provided in this socialization included an introduction to disasters, climate change adaptation and earthquake preparedness.
Then, a self-evacuation simulation for an earthquake disaster, an introduction to the duties and functions of BPBD in the region. Next, socialization of Jakarta Alert 112 and Jakarta BPBD disaster literacy space and so on.
Batu Ampar Urban Village Secretary, Abdul Haris, supports this activity because it can form a community that is trained and ready to face disaster emergency situations.
"Communities will be better prepared and trained in dealing with disasters, especially earthquakes and situations that require first aid and water rescue," he stated.
He hopes that the participants can disseminate the knowledge and techniques they have gained to other residents in order to minimize casualties during disasters.
One of participants, Umi Wastiah, admitted the training was useful for her, especially as FKDM member.
"We need knowledge like this to do early handling during disaster," she admitted.
