1,300 N. Jakarta Residents Educated on Corruption Prevention

As many as 1,300 residents participated in the socialization on corruption prevention and anti-money laundering held by the Jakarta Inspectorate, Saturday (7/6) to Sunday (7/7), at the North Jakarta Youth Center.

Very happy that they are enthusiastic

Jakarta Inspectorate Assistant Investigation Inspector, Supendi said most participants were elementary to high school students, institutions, and community organizations such as KONI, Kwarcab Pramuka, PMI, KORMI, PORTINA, and PPMI.

According to him, it is an inseparable part of the Anti-Corruption Bus roadshow, which has been running in North Jakarta since May 16, 2024.

Anti Corruption Education in West Jakarta Participated by 100 Students

He explained participants were educated on various materials related to corruption, illegal levies, and money laundering practices.

"We collaborate with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK). Alhamdulillah (thank God), we were greeted enthusiastically, with only 1,300 participants recorded," he expressed, Sunday (7/7).

He explained they were educated on various materials related to corruption, illegal levies, and money laundering practices.

For the practice of illegal levies, they were given material regarding the duties and functions of the Illegal Levy Eradication Unit (UPPL) which works in synergy with the Police and Prosecutor's Office.

Regarding money laundering, his party and PPATK provided participants with an understanding of the modus operandi and ways in which the perpetrators disguised the proceeds of crime as if they came from legitimate and legal activities.

"It doesn't just have an economic impact. The money laundering can also damage public trust in financial institutions and the government and foster corruption or other crimes," he explained.

He added they were also invited to interact through a series of games and question and answer sessions, as well as being allowed to watch video shows prepared on the Anti-Corruption Bus.

"Hopefully, this socialization will be an important step for the Jakarta Provincial Government to build clean and transparent governance through awareness and active participation of all elements of society," he asserted.

Jakarta Qualified Internal Auditor Inspectorate, Reni Septianawati added this activity, which involved many students, was aimed at building an understanding of preventing corruption and anti-money laundering from an early age.

"Very happy that they are enthusiastic and some even understand about corruption and extortion. We also hope that it can direct them towards positive activities," she expressed.

SMPN 162 Class IX Student, Aliah Khansa Salsabila admitted she gained an understanding of the dangers corruption and money laundering practices pose to the country's economy and people's lives.

"We were also taught to manage finances or accounts well when we were young. We understood how corruption and illegal transactions are dangerous for society," she admitted.
