Electrical Short Circuit Causes Fire at Food Stall and Factory in Pejagalan

Electrical short circuit caused fire at food stall and factory at Kompleks Ruko 25, Jalan Jembatan III Raya, Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-district.

15 firetrucks with 80 personnel were deployed

North Jakarta and Seribu Island Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Officer, David Zulkarnaen, said the fire happened last night at 9 PM.

"The fire was temporarily handled at 10:27 PM. Then it can be fully handled at 1:54 AM," he said, Friday (8/9).

David explained that the fire started from a spark on one of the electric poles and a moment later it exploded and the flames immediately spread to the food stall.

"Local residents tried to extinguish the fire, but they failed. The fire burned two food stalls, one bread factory, and other stalls," he explained.

According to him, 15 firetrucks with 80 personnel were deployed to the scene.

"There is no victim caused by the incident. Now the case is being investigated by PLN and police," he added.

Meanwhile, Marko (46), one of local residents, admitted he directly reported the case to North Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Command Center.

"Thankfully the fire did not spread to resident houses," he admitted.
