Barista Competition Held at East Jakarta PPKD

As many as 57 participants participated barista competition held by East Jakarta Regional Job Training Center (PPKD), Wednesday (8/21).

East Jakarta PPKD Head, Teguh Herdarwan, said four out of 57 participants were people with special need and six inmates of Cipinang Drug Prison. The rests were public residents from Jabodetabek and Bangka Belitung.

He added that the competition was held in synergy with Komunitas Barista Indonesia, Padepokan Kopi, Barista Dagelan, and Ruang Ngopi Pagi. They were also assessor team of the competition.
Competition winner will get trophies, certificates and coaching money, as well as goody bags from sponsors.
"First winner will get Rp 3 million, second winner Rp 2 million and third winner Rp 1 million," he added.
Afif Andri Irianto (30), one of Cipinang Drug Prison inmates, admitted he also participated barista training for 20 days in last July. He then participated in a competition to get certificate from East Jakarta PPKD and BNSP.
"This is a very valuable experience for people like us. Given job training and getting a certificate, now participating in a prestigious competition," he stated.
He added that the knowledge gained from PPKD East Jakarta is very useful and can be used as provisions for opening a business when breathing fresh air in September.
