Marunda Fishermen Group Involved in Developing Tourism Sector

The improvement and development of the coastal tourism sector of North Jakarta is one of the programs of the Cilincing Sub-district. The program is optimized by involving the Marunda fishermen groups.
One boat will be managed by three fishermen
Cilincing Sub-district Head, Depika Romadi said the concept of tourism along the coast of North Jakarta originated from the idea and innovation of the Marunda fishermen group.
The public or tourists can visit interesting tourist attractions such as Si Pitung House, Al Alam Mosque, Marunda Beach, Damar Besar Island, and other locations using fishing boats.

To support it, the fishermen had prepared eight boats ready to be used as transportation for sightseeing tours.
"One boat will be managed by three fishermen," he explained.
As for the development of tourism on the coast of North Jakarta, it would also involve residents as MSMEs.
"We direct them to sell various culinary products, souvenirs, and others. Hopefully, the local community's economic income will also increase," he explained.
Even, the collaboration would also be made with all related work units to help facilitate both in terms of licensing and others.
"We're optimistic that this tourism development program can be realized. Of course, we have inventoried the needs of the community and realized the proposals from these fishermen," he uttered.
Marunda Makmur Fishermen Cooperative Chairman, Kubil, expressed his gratitude to the Cilincing Sub-district and the North Jakarta administration who had responded well to the ideas and input from the fishermen.
"There are still many people who do not know about the coastal tourism of North Jakarta. We want to contribute," he uttered.
He added the boat he owned could accommodate 20 people so it could be rented for tours around the waters of Marunda, and could even visit Damar Besar and Kecil Islands, Seribu Islands, which were only 1.5 hours away from Muara Banjir Kanal Timur (BKT), Marunda Kepu.
"Our boat can also be rented for fishing. Hopefully, this coastal tourist attraction in North Jakarta can be better known to the wider community," he stated.
