Textile Museum Commemorates Diplomatic Relations' 40th Anniversary between Indonesia and Ireland

The Textile Museum on Jalan KS Tubun, South Kota Bambu Urban Village, Palmerah Sub-district, West Jakarta, exhibits 57 batik collections in the framework of Diplomatic Relations' 40th Anniversary between Indonesia and Ireland.

Jakarta Culture Agency's Museum Technical Unit Head, Sri Kusumawati said the event was opened by Irish Ambassador to Indonesia, Padraig Francis. The collection of hand-drawn and printed batik on display consisted of 50 batik from the Textile Museum collection and seven batik designs depicting Irish figures combined with distinctive motifs, the work of art and made in Indonesia.
"The exhibition runs from September 10 to 22, 2024," she expressed, Wednesday (9/11).
Rare Indonesian Songket Exhibited at Textile MuseumAccording to him, the 50 typical Indonesian batiks displayed included long Sidhomukti batik cloth (Surakarta), Loc Chan shawl (Rembang), the long cloth (Cirebon), long Kawung Kamboja cloth (Solo), and Poleng Madepun sarong cloth (Central Java).
The seven batik designs with Irish characters on display include Saint Brigid, Children of Lir, and Queen Maeve.
"Through this exhibition, hopefully, diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Ireland will become closer," she stated.
