East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, led the harvesting at Cipayung Regional Hospital Urban Farming Land, Friday (9/20). The vegetables harvested include mustard greens, eggplant, cayenne pepper and tomatoes.

Anwar said the land is used for urban farming while waiting for building expansion later.

"The land is used for urban farming before health facilities are built here," he said.

The existence of urban farming at the hospital is useful for its staff and surrounding residents. Hopefully it will trigger residents to provide urban farming at their environment.

Cipayung Sub-district's Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Implementer Unit Head, Nur Hikmah, explained today's harvest consisted 25 kg of cayenne pepper, five kg of cucumber, five kg of eggplant and three kg of tomatoes, then 20 kg of green mustard.

"We sold some of the vegetables for urban farming operational, and some others were distributed to urban farming caretakers and local residents," she explained.
