Progress of Strengthening East Side Embankment of Untung Jawa Island Reaches 60 Percent

The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is strengthening the boundary embankment on the east side of Untung Jawa Island, RT 03/03, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district. The progress has now reached 60 percent.

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village SDA Field Coordinator, Mahiar said the embankment strengthening was done with the massive cube casting method.

"Through the casting method, it will certainly also provide more comfort for tourists, especially those who like fishing or enjoying the sunrise," he expressed, Tuesday (9/24).

He explained the casting of the embankment with a width of 1.3 meters and a height of two meters was conducted along a length of about 50 meters.

"This work involves 13 personnel with complete supporting equipment," he explained.

It has been ongoing since September 16, 2024, and is targeted for completion by the end of this week.

"Hope everything goes smoothly," he hoped.

One of the residents, Mastur (57) stated it was very important to hold back the sea waves during high tide.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency which continues to strengthen and maintain the embankments in its area.

"Of course, it is very supportive, after being strengthened this embankment has many benefits. In fact, it provides comfort and security for residents and tourists who visit," he stated.
