BPBD Improves Rescue Capabilities with Internationally Certified Training

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), participated in internationally certified Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) training at Jakarta Rescue Training Center, Citeko, Cisarua, Bogor from September 18 to 24, 2024.

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said the USAR training is part of an effort to improve the quality and preparedness of the team in responding to potential disasters, especially in Jakarta.

The training lasted for one week and involved instructors from PUI (Pompiers d'Urgence Internationale) France. The course material covers various important aspects such as search and rescue, medical treatment, logistics, and the use of drones in disaster conditions.
"Besides theory, participants were also involved in a simulation of searching for earthquake disaster victims, to strengthen their understanding and practical skills," he expressed.
Participants involved in this training were from BPBD Jakarta and various other institutions such as UAR (Ukhuwah Al-Fatah Rescue), Wanadri, PK3D, and Carolus Hospital. It was also open to institutions or individuals who want to increase their capacity in disaster management.
He added this internationally certified USAR training is expected to bring positive changes to the disaster management system in Jakarta, thus disaster mitigation can be held more effectively and many lives can be saved.
He urged Jakarta residents to remain alert and prepared in the face of disasters.
