After being inaugurated, Acting Governor Teguh Setyabudi is committed to move quickly and work hard in continuing the Jakarta development programs toward a global city. He will strengthen synergy with various parties such as Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) to realize it.
I would like to thank the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) for the trust given to me. Of course, I ask for support from all parties such as Forkopimda, all ranks of the Jakarta Provincial Government, elements of society, institutions, and all. Hopefully I can carry out this task to continue what has been built and done by the previous Acting Governor which is heading towards Jakarta as a global city," Teguh said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.
Then Teguh explained several priority programs that will be run, namely supporting and making a success the Elected President and Vice President inauguration that will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the MPR/DPR RI building. Then ensuring the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024 to run well, honestly, fairly, directly, generally, with dignity and integrity. Another important program is Jakarta Provincial Government will prepare itself to anticipate rainy season to minimize the flood impact.
"We will examine existing programs. Programs that were good in the era of the previous Acting Governor will definitely be continued. We will also improve programs that need evaluation together. Of course, as Acting Governor, we will also ensure that the wheels of government and development can run well along with guidance to the community. For that, we are ready to accept input from all elements of society," he added.
Teguh continued that preparations need to be made in various aspects especially human resources to support the transformation of Jakarta as a global city. It means the development can run smoothly and according to target.
"As a global city, we must prepare not only the physical, but also human resources both from the government bureaucracy and community. We must be able to prepare various infrastructure facilities so that we can become a center of trade and maintain economic growth. Mapping is needed for sure. Hopefully all society element hopes can be realized," he continued.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian assessed that Acting Governor Teguh is qualified to lead Jakarta in the future. This is because Acting Governor Teguh has experience as Acting Governor in two provinces, namely Southeast Sulawesi and North Kalimantan. With his last experience as Director General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"There is no doubt with Teguh's ability to lead Jakarta with work experience in the Ministry of Home Affairs and twice as Acting Governor, as well as quite intellectual academic abilities. But of course, it is still necessary to cooperate with Heru Budi Hartono," Tito said.
He also entrusted a number of priority programs to Acting Governor Teguh, including the Inauguration of the Elected President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, and being able to overcome the problems experienced by Jakarta, such as air pollution, slums, and flooding.
"I also asked Teguh to prepare the concept of Jakarta when it will not be the National Capital, but the Special Region of Jakarta. The national capital moves to the Indonesian Capital (IKN), so the concept must be prepared starting from the center of the economy and services, to becoming a global city," he stated.
