All RWs in Kembangan Utara have been participating to control dengue fever
Jakarta Dinkes Head, Ani Ruspitawati said that since its launch on October 4, 2024, the program has undergone development.
"Until now, as many as 1,279 foster parents (OTA) from 11 RWs in North Kembangan Urban Village have agreed to participate in this program. Hopefully, the population of mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus will decrease drastically, thus preventing the spread of dengue fever," she expressed, as quoted by Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Friday (10/25).
Jakarta Launches Wolbachia Method as Dengue Fever Handling Program in KembanganShe went on to say that the distribution of buckets containing Wolbachia mosquito eggs and food to the homes of OTAs had begun on October 8, 2024. Wolbachia technology through mosquito eggs aims to reduce the ability of mosquitoes that cause dengue fever to reproduce and spread the virus.
"All RWs in Kembangan Utara have been participating to control dengue fever," she continued.
Every two weeks, the Dinkes will conduct the bucket service process including refilling water, mosquito eggs, and feed to ensure the program runs optimally and according to expectations.
"Buckets that experience problems such as being lost or spilled will be replaced according to the maintenance schedule. We will continue to monitor the implementation of this program and conduct periodic evaluations. The success of this program is highly dependent on the active participation of the community. Therefore, support and cooperation from all OTAs and residents are highly expected," she closed.
