Our strategy is by rescheduling waste transportation in 14 waste disposal sites at night

Our strategy is by rescheduling waste transportation in 14 waste disposal sites at night,” uttered Head of North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Bondan Diah Ekowati, Sunday (5/17).

Gambir Sub-District Applies Waste Transportation at Night

Bondan stated those waste disposal sites are located in Rawa Badak Utara, Tugu Utara, Indoor Cilincing, Green Garden, Kencana, Papanggo Alley 21, and Muara Baru. He assessed, his side relies on the government rank and public to realize such way.

“We also do selection by sorting the waste in residential, school, office and public facility. Of course, it doesn’t work without public and stakeholder role," he explained.

He furthered the policy is deemed very effective. In the Jalan Bugis' waste disposal site in Bawang urban Village, Tanjung Priok for instance, where it was previously accommodating waste weighing 250 tons per day. Its waste is from Kebon Bawang, Sungai Bambu, and Tanjung Priok urban Villages.

Yet the waste was often complained by locals due to splattering on the road. The condition is also worsened with bad smell and disease potential in the field.

“To cope it, the waste transportation was rescheduled one month ago. The people can only throw their waste at 4-10 PM). As a result, all complaints can be minimized,” he expressed.

Bondan added, the success of the program is an example of which would be applied in 95 waste disposal sites all over North Jakarta.
