Jakarta DPRD Commission D Chairperson, Yuke Yurike said that the Water Resources Agency (SDA) was focused on efforts and budget allocations to prevent flooding.

"We discussed embung (artificial lake) and dams, as well as the normalization of micro and macro channels, including the need for mini excavators to facilitate mobility and dredging in channels and rivers with narrow access," he expressed, at Grand Cempaka Resort, Bogor, West Jave, Thursday (11/20).

Regarding efforts to overcome rob or tidal waves, she explained, there had been planning done. However, it had not been completed yet.

"We support it, whichever needs to be resolved immediately," she explained.

She appreciated the Jakarta Government that had taken immediate action to address the tidal waves in Muara Angke area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

"Efforts to overcome floods in Jakarta in the last five years have shown good results and need to continue to be improved," she explained.

According to her, the tidal waves occurred, because of the phenomenon of maximum seawater tides coinciding with the Supermoon phenomenon so that the height of the seawater tide increased.

"Of course, we have predicted this because of natural effects," she stressed.

By utilizing the latest technology, the government would be better able to predict disasters that would occur. She hoped, the government could optimize its efforts to control flooding.

"One way is by building a polder system and adding pump houses to anticipate and control flooding. Hopefully, we can anticipate better in the following years," she continued.

As for the Bina Marga Agency, it was necessary to improve the maintenance of neighborhood roads. "Including alleys," he continued.

According to her, all sidewalks in Jakarta must be disabled-friendly with complete guiding blocks.

"Guiding block for disabled must be adapted to needs. It must also be maintained carefully and its lane must be good," she asserted.

She also reminded the Bina Marga Agency to improve its synergy with regional apparatus organizations (OPD), BUMDs, and other agencies.

"Don't let the sidewalks that are already good be dismantled because of other things such as repairing the channels, the need for piped water, and PLN utilities," she added.

He also wanted the provision of pedestrian bridge (JPO) facilities to be improved according to the needs of the location.

"This is important to prevent accidents," he stated.
