Encouraging Public Relation Role in Maintaining Jakarta's Reputation as a Global City through AHJ 2024

Jakarta Provincial Government through Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency held Jakarta Public Relation Award (AHJ) 2024. This competition for public relation personnel within Jakarta Provincial Government raised theme 'Jakarta Public Relations with Global Competitiveness'. The competition is aimed to encourage the role of public relations in maintaining Jakarta's image and reputation as a global city.

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi hopes AHJ can be a spark of enthusiasm for public relations personnel in Jakarta Provincial Government to continue innovating in producing products and communication action related to policies impacted to public. The success of Jakarta program development lies on transparency and dissemination of information.

"To be able to compete in local and global scopes, public relations professionalism is needed in this dynamic era. While maintaining humanist values through direct interaction with the community, public relation personnel must be adaptive to technology development and effective modern communication strategies," Teguh said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Thursday (11/21).

Teguh assessed this activity emphasizes the importance of the role of public relations to support Jakarta as a global city, as well as to meet the demands of the community for fast, accurate, and transparent information. In conveying credible information, countering all hoax news, protecting the positive image of the government, and strengthening public trust in the government, strengthening the public relation role is needed.

"I am proud of the 156 public relations works that demonstrate consistency of work, originality and suitability with the identity of  Jakarta. Congratulations to the Regional Apparatus, Regional Apparatus Work Units (UKPD), and Regionally-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) within the Jakarta Provincial Government who have successfully won awards. This achievement is the result of commitment, creativity, and integrity in bridging communication between the government and the community," Teguh added.

Meanwhile, Acting Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency Head, Sigit Wijatmoko, explained this year is the third time the Jakarta Public Relations Award has been held. This competition aims to foster a positive competitive spirit while also providing appreciation for the public relations works of Regional Apparatus, UKPD, and BUMD.

"34 of the best works and figures in public relation has been selected in AHJ 2024 from a total of 156 works collected by 56 internal agencies. We also involved a panel of judges who are professionals in public relation," Sigit explained.

The AHJ 2024 jury are Glory Rosary Oyong, Corporate Communication Director of Kompas Gramedia; Fardilla Rachmilliza Astari, Communication Strategist, Deputy Secretary General of Perhumas; and Galuh Shinta Wardhani Leksono, VP of Marketing and Communication of PT Indonesia Indicator. There are three categories of public relations works being competed, namely the Social Media category, Public Communication Campaign and Audiovisual Media and the jury's choice category, namely Public Relations Work Innovation and Inspirational Public Relations Figures.

"We deliver our highest appreciation for the participation of Regional Apparatus, UKPD, and BUMD during the competition. We also congratulate the winners and finalists of Jakarta Public Relation Award Competition 2024," Sigit stated.
