Social Agency Channels 86 Social Assisted Residents to Workplaces

In 2024, Jakarta Social Agency has channeled 86 assisted residents to workplaces as an effort to improve community welfare and empower social assisted residents.

Jakarta Social Agency Head, Premi Lasari conveyed, this success was part of the local government's commitment to creating inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities.

The program was designed to train social assisted residents with relevant skills needed to apply for jobs.

"Before being channeled, they learn skills in accordance to their interests and talents," she mentioned, Tuesday (1/14).

The training offered varies from maggot and catfish farming, welding, shiatsu massage, computer, screen printing, to culinary skills.

According to her, this program also paid special attention to social assisted residents with disabilities who have been trained and competent.

"We want to ensure that all assisted residents, including people with disabilities, get the same opportunities to develop and contribute in society," she stated.

Based on data, 44 of 86 assisted residents who have been sent to workplaces are from PSBR Taruna Jaya 1, while the rest are from other social houses such as PSBR Taruna Jaya 2 with five people, PSBK Harapan Jaya with 20 people, PSBNRW Cahaya Batin with six people, PSBD Budi Bakti 1 with seven people and PSAA Putra Utama 2 with four people.

This success, she added, was possible due to collaboration with various parties, including business entities and companies that opened job opportunities for social assisted residents.

She expected this program could help social assisted residents to be more independent and support Jakarta's vision as an inclusive global city.

"In the future, we will continue to expand the scope of training programs and job opportunities thus more assisted residents can get the benefits," she closed.
