Repair of Six Street Lights in Seribu Islands Completed

The Seribu Islands Technical Work Unit (UKT) 2, completed the repairs of six street lights to create a sense of safety and comfort for residents and tourists.

Seribu Islands UKT 2's Technical Working Unit Lighting Section Hear, Wibi Abdi said this improvement is a follow-up to the monitoring of the condition of street lights on Pramuka Island, Panggang Island, Kelapa Island, Harapan Island, Lancang Island, and Untung Jawa Island.

"They (street lights) are malfunctioned due to a fallen tree and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds," he expressed, Thursday (2/6).

He explained that during 2024, 610 street lights in six urban villages had been repaired.

Of 610 street lights repaired, 35 were on Sebira Island, 103 were on Harapan Island, 145 were on Kelapa Island, four were Karya Island, 89 were on Kelapa Dua Island, 50 were on Pramuka Island, and 23 were Panggang Island.

"Then 41 are on Lancang Island, 57 are Pari Island, 12 are on Untung Jawa Island, and 51 are on Payung Island," he explained.

His personnel also made routine maintenance of street lighting, such as cleaning the lights, checking the condition of the cables, and replacing malfunctioned lamps.

"We are responsible for the repair and maintenance of street lights in Seribu Islands. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents when engaging in activities at night, as well as to support the economy and maintain aesthetics," he continued.

Even, residents can report any damage to street lights to the authorities. They are also urged not to vandalize or steal street light components, and to maintain cleanliness around the street lights.

"By so, we can provide better service and create a safe and comfortable environment," he added.

The repair received appreciation from RW 02 Chairman, Kelapa Island Urban Village, Mustar.

"Lighting is very important to prevent traffic accidents and crime. So, residents feel more comfortable and safe while engaging in activities, especially at night," he said.
