Acting Governor Teguh Supports Independent and Competitive People with Disability in Economic Sector

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi launched the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Program for people with visual disability on Jalan Fatmawati Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Thursday (2/6).

At that moment, Teguh appreciated the Indonesian House of Aspiration for the Blind (Rumah Aspirasi Tunanetra Indonesia) for providing the program as part of empowering people with disability.

"The program is launched for people with disability to be more independent and competitive in economy sector. Furthermore, Jakarta is transforming to Jakarta Global," he said.

According to him, the program is inline with Jakarta Provincial commitment to increase the people with disability welfare and independence in order to realize global city.

"Compiling a Regional Action Plan for People with Disability as an instrument for inclusive and sustainable development for people with disability is one of several things that need to be considered," Teguh added.

Next are implementing Integrated Entrepreneurship Development Program, training and giving capital for MSME entrepreneurs with a target of 10 percent of total participants are people with disability.

"Jakarta Provincial Government cooperates with Jakarta Baznas Bazis in providing Difabis Cafes that are already constructed at City Hall, South Jakarta Mayor Office and in East Jakarta that will be launched soon," he continued.

Teguh explained that Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency has run the retribution tariff policy.

"The rent fee is free at temporary site (loksem) and coaching location (lokbin) for people with disability who wants to run the business," he explained.

Teguh hopes the program initiated by Rumah Aspirasi Tunanetra Indonesia in form of training and coaching for people with disability MSMEs can be continued and developed.

"It means people with disability can be more independent and take active role in the growth of Jakarta's economy," Teguh hoped.
