As many as 2,672 fighters of children up to adults are ready to compete in Jakarta Governor's Cup Pencak Silat championship 2025 at Ciracas Sport Hall, East Jakarta.

The event initiated by Ikatan Pencak Silat Seluruh Indonesia (IPSI) Jakarta was opened by Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno.

Rano Karno appreciated the IPSI Jakarta for initiating the event as place to develop young athletes.

"The event is held to preserve culture and tradition of pencak silat," Rano said, Monday (2/24).

Pencak Silat is not just art and martial art, but also a philosophy of life that teaches us to have good relationships with God, human beings and environment.

Rano added that Jakarta Provincial Government commits in maintaining and developing the national cultural heritage in the middle its transformation into a global city.

"Pencak Silat will be developed to remain sustainable, as well as producing proud achievements for Jakarta and Indonesia under Pramono Anung as Jakarta Governor and me as the Vice Governor," Rano added.

Rano supports the IPSI Jakarta to hold this event as preserving culture and tradition, and developing athlete to represent Jakarta in national and international sport competition.

Rano ensures Jakarta Governor's Pencak Silat Championship will be held routinely every year.

"I optimistic children who participate the event will be able to prevent in joining brawl. Then we'll also prepare big stage during Car Free Day to perform 1,000 children wearing pencak silat uniform," Rano continued.

Meanwhile, IPSI Jakarta Head, Munjirin explained the championship is participated by 2,672 fighters of students , teenagers, and adults by competing two categories namely fighting and art.

The championship has been implemented in five administration areas as early monitoring in searching athlete for Jakarta.

"We have held the competition earlier on February 17-20, 2025. Then student category will be held on February 24-27," he explained.
