City Government Ensures Pondok Bambu Fire Survivors Needs are Met

Jakarta Provincial Government through Social Agency, Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD), Jakarta Baznas Bazis and Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross reacted quickly to distribute assistances for fire survivors in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

The distributed aid includes clothing, food and temporary housing for refugees who are currently occupying Pondok Bambu Sports Hall yard.
Acting Jakarta Regional Secretary's Assistant of Community Welfare, Hendra Hidayat said the assistances are part of government's existence in assisting its residents.

The assistance that has been distributed were clothing such as mukena, daster, koko shirts, training pants, baby diapers and also school uniforms. Then personal hygiene needs such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and towels. About 150 boxes of ready-to-eat food were prepared for sahur and breaking the fast, as well as rice, cooking oil, sweet soy sauce, biscuits, sardines, and other needs.
Then 15 packages of children's equipment (kidsware) were also given to families with toddlers. 25 folding mattresses from Ministry of Social were also distributed.
According to him, the assistances were distributed in stages. Starting with establishment of tents and sleeping mats on Friday (2/28) at 9:30 PM by East Jakarta Social Sub-agency and Jakarta BPBD Agency. Then at 1 AM Saturday (3/1), clothing assistances were distributed together with sahur meals at 2:30 PM. Assistances from Jakarta Baznas Bazis and East Jakarta PMI arrived in the morning.
"We appreciate many sides who are involved in this activity. We try to ensure fire survivors' needs are met until they have stable condition," he stated.
As for information, fire incident occurred on Friday (2/28) night that impacted 30 houses with 36 families or 100 people in Duren Sawit and Pondok Bambu Urban Villages. The government commits to remain assist the fire survivors until they find solution for their housing and basic needs.
