1,500 Tons of Garbage Transported from TB Simatupang Ciliwung Garbage Filter

The heavy rainfall on the upstream area made the water level of Katulampa, Bogor, West Jakarta reached level 1 on Sunday (3/2) night.

The Orange Taskforce of Jakarta Environmental Agency remain struggle to keep the river body from the garbage piles after the heavy rain.

Personnel and heavy equipment are deployed at Ciliwung Garbage Filter in TB Simatupang, South Jakarta, since Sunday (3/2) at 10 PM.

As the result, there are 1,500 tons of garbage transported from the filter up to Monday (3/3) morning.

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto explained the cleaning is still run to prevent dam effect that can impede water flow.

"The handle remains run to avoid dam effect that disturbs the water flow," Asep said, Monday (3/3).

He added that 60 personnel are involved during the operation including seven heavy equipment such as amphibious excavator, material handler, and wheel loader.
