Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, supports the statement of West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi, who urged Jakarta residents not to build villas in Puncak area, Bogor, West Java. This aims to prevent floods in the Greater Jakarta region.
I am among those who agree that there should be restrictions on building villas in Puncak
"I am among those who agree that there should be restrictions on building villas in Puncak," Pramono expressed, at Technical Agency Building, Jalan Abdul Muis, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (3/11).
According to him, high rainfall does not only occur in Ciawi Lake and Sukamahi areas, but also in lower regions that have mostly become public areas, villas, lodgings, and restaurants. This condition indicates that uncontrolled villa development can exacerbate flood risks.
Jakarta Receives Boat Assistance for Flood Management"This is evident from several floods in the last one yesterday, where the rainfall is no longer above Ciawi Lake and Sukamahi, but below it. And part of that has already become public areas, areas that are used for villas, then accommodations, and also restaurants, and so on," he explained.
According to him, the restriction on villa construction applies not only to Jakarta people but also other regions. He also expressed his support for the West Java Governor to implement this restriction policy.
"Whoever it is, villa construction must be limited. Indeed, I support the restrictions on villa construction in Puncak area or anywhere else that is newly built," he explained.
He added one way to limit villa construction is by adjusting the Land and Building Tax (PBB) for villas owned by Jakarta people in Puncak area.
"We'll apply it in a different way later. For instance, there is the PBB, if he/she has a villa, it becomes an addition to the new PBB," he stated.
