Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung conducted working visit to Bantargebang Integrated Dump Site (TPST), Bekasi, West Java, Wednesday (3/19).
minimize the disaster and health risks
The visit was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan; the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno and the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
Pramono together with other officials visited the waste processing facility into electrical energy at the Merah Putih Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) as well as the waste processing facility into alternative fuel (Refuse Derived Fuel/RDF) at the Landfill Mining and RDF Plant.
Rano Checks Rorotan RDF Plant PreparationPramono explained Jakarta produces 8,000 tons of waste in a day. The RDF Plants in Bantargebang and Rorotan are hoped to reduce waste volume to be 5,000-6,000 tons per day.
Pramono added to smooth the construction of PLTSa with incinerators, waste processing service fees (tipping fees) need to be adjusted. Pramono assessed that synergy between the central government and regional government is important to overcome waste problem in Jakarta.
Pramono continued waste handling relying on RDF Plant is not enough to overcome the problem.
"We're waiting the tipping fee to be decided. Jakarta already has 2 RDF facilities. If there is no change in tipping fee, people will easily construct RDF Plant. It is because the buyer, Indocement, is ready," Pramono said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan said there had been progress in waste management in Bantargebang, especially with the RDF Plant facility in collaboration with the cement factory.
"We've seen it together. There is progress for the waste processing in Bantargebang. Cement factory is ready to accommodate RDF's processing result," he stated.
He also mentioned the changing of tipping fee to attract investors in processing waste into electricity energy
"I said earlier about the regulation that needs to be improved to solve the problem. There is no tipping fee and others. Regional government only prepares the land," he stated.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno said waste processing is important to minimize disaster risk and maintain health. He appreciated efforts provided by Jakarta Provincial Government and hopes another efforts to be prepared.
"As the downstream for disaster management, we at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, are very interested in starting from upstream at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, environmental affairs, land management affairs, spatial planning, infrastructure and so on. So that we can minimize the disaster and health risks," he stated.
