East Jakarta's Grand Harvest Produces 2.9 Tons of Agricultural Commodities

The simultaneous harvest event located in 100 planting areas in East Jakarta produced 2.9 tons of agricultural commodities. Today's harvest was led by Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, at an urban farming site on Jalan Raya Pulogebang, RT 12/06, Pulogebang Urban Village, Cakung Sub-district.

East Jakarta Acting Mayor, Iin Mutmainnah said the urban farming land where the harvest takes place included residential areas, farmer groups (Poktan), RPTRAs, government and private office rooftops, and the space under the Becakayu Toll Road.
"For agricultural commodities, the total reached 2.9 tons and for fishery commodities, it was 595 kilograms," she expressed, Wednesday (3/19).
Jakarta to Hold Grand Harvest TomorrowAccording to her, agricultural commodities harvested included chili, water spinach, eggplant, bok choy, tomatoes, broccoli, and others. Then, for agricultural commodities, it included tilapia, gourami, and catfish.
"Some of the harvest is distributed to the locals and urban farming activists. Some of it is also sold, and the money is used for operational costs or for the next planting needs," she explained.
East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto expressed, there is currently an intensified socialization and education campaign for planting the Bonita chili variety.
"This type of chili has many advantages. In the Pulogebang urban farming area, we've planted 600 chili plant seeds and it is predicted to produce between 900 kilograms to 1.2 tons of chili in a year," he explained.
He explained chili is a commodity whose price can be very volatile and extremely high. Therefore, it can be a commodity that influences inflation.
"If we can cultivate it ourselves, it can certainly contribute to stable prices because the supply is maintained," he explained.
He added today's Grand Harvest was also aimed at improving the supply and availability of food ahead of Idulfitri 1446 Hijri and to support President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita program in achieving food self-sufficiency.
"This acitivity invloves PKK cadres, urban farming enthusiasts, fish farmers, and government representatives. In total, the total reached about 1,330 people spread across 100 harvesting locations," he closed.
