413 Waste Banks in Central Jakarta Actively Operating

As many as 413 waste banks spread across 386 neighborhood units in Central Jakarta are still recorded as actively operating to this day.

Alhamdulillah (thank God), all the waste banks in the neighborhood are active

Central Jakarta Acting Deputy Mayor, Iqbal Akbaruddin, stated they had 413 waste banks operating in 386 neighborhood units.

"So, several neighborhood units have two waste banks," he stated, on the sidelines of the online TPS 3R inauguration conducted by Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, Friday (3/21).

North Jakarta Aims to Launch Waste Banks in 386 RWs by March

Even, one of the waste banks in RW 01 Gambir is currently going to distribute Holiday Allowance (THR) funds to its customers amounting to Rp 34 million.

"The RW 01 Gambir Waste Bank also successfully built a prayer room from waste management efforts. This is a positive impact of the existence of the waste bank," he expressed.

He explained that 10,161 residents in eight sub-districts of Central Jakarta were also recorded as active customers of waste banks.

"The waste bank in Central Jakarta produces handmade crafts from waste management that have economic value," he explained.

Central Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Slamet Riyadi uttered the 413 waste banks spread across eight sub-districts were currently active.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), all the waste banks in the neighborhood are active. In the future, we will continue to provide guidance and monitoring," he uttered.

Currently, they also have two TPS 3R in Cempaka Putih and Gambir that have been operating since last year. They have successfully reduced waste by 15-20 tons every day.

"We also receive community support to jointly reduce it at the source by sorting inorganic, organic, and hazardous waste," he closed.
