Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said the Rorotan RDF operation is temporarily stopped for optimization.
Environmental Agency Invites Residents Visiting Rorotan RDF"Our first step is emptying waste in the bunker and RDF products at the warehouse. This has been completed yesterday," he said Tuesday (3/25).
Asep explained technical error during the trial process using old waste caused odor that was smelled in the residential environment. In fact, this RDF technology is designed to process new waste (fresh waste) or three days maximum.
In order to handle this problem, the agency will add deodorizer to eliminate odor in the production plant and warehouse areas. The existing deodorizer has been installed in the bunker area.
"The installation in these two plant areas is enough to overcome the odor during the commissioning process. The trial will be carried out in three steps from empty load (without garbage), half load, and full load," he added.
According to him, the air quality monitoring station (SPKU) at Rorotan RDF has been installed since the construction. Then also at Jakarta Garden City (JGC), Cakung Timur.
The agency, he continued, also adds two SPKUs at residential areas within four to five kilometers from the RDF.
"We added another two SPKUs at Metland, Cakung TImur and Harapan Indah, Bekasi," he continued
.Asep said the air quality monitoring result can be accessed via online and open for public.
Asep explained free health services have been given to 11 people exposed to ISPA and three people with eye inflammation.
"They are fully recovered now. We are committed to provide the best health services," he explained.
Meanwhile, Cakung Timur Community Health Center Head, Apriemi Simanjuntak, admitted there were 14 people impacted by post-commissioning.
One community health center ambulance was deployed to serve the residents. It included the free health services for them.
"We remain standby to provide health services. We are also ready to open health post if needed. Our team keeps monitoring the local residents health condition," she said.
