Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency has confirmed that the source of the foul smell reported by residents around Rorotan Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant on Thursday (3/27) night did not originate from RDF Plant.

Jakarta LH Agency Public Relations Officer, Yogi Ikhwan, stated that his party has ensured that his side quickly responded to complaints by conducting a field inspection. He assured that no activities are taking place at Rorotan RDF at the moment.

He mentioned that after inspection, it was found that there were piles of uncollected garbage that had started to decompose at AEON Mall JGC. At the same time, the Jakarta LH Agency personnel also discovered the source of foul smell coming from food waste in the water channel in front of AEON JGC modern market.
"Jakarta LH Agency immediately tackle the problem by transporting the waste that night to eliminate the foul smell complained by several residents," he explained.
Jakarta LH Agency urged residents to promptly report similar complaints to its official social media account @dinaslhdki for immediate follow-up.

Previously, the Jakarta LH Agency received the first report of the foul smell on Thursday (3/27) at 8:50 PM. The smell was detected in Jakarta Garden City (JGC) Complexand its surrounding areas, such as Cluster Shinano, Casia, La Seine, Asya, North Thames, and South Thames. Moreover, the smell also reported by residents living in Metland and Harapan Indah Bekasi, including Cluster Harmoni, Ifolia, Aralia, and Symphony.
