A total of 6,500 sacrificial animals were examined by the South Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency between May 15-28, 2025.

"We continue to ensure that the sacrificial animals are healthy and in accordance with Islamic law,"

Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Acting Head, Siti Halimah, conveyed that the examination of sacrificial animals included age, tooth and horn growth, and health.

"For laboratory testing, we have taken blood samples from both cows and goats, as well as soil from the animal shelter," she said on Thursday (5/29).

Halimah explained that all 6,500 sacrificial animals that had been examined were declared healthy, fit for qurbani, and safe for consumption by the public.

"There was one cow that was sick, but we have monitored and quarantined it, until it finally fully recovered yesterday. We continue to ensure that the sacrificial animals are healthy and in accordance with Islamic law," she added.

According to her, the South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency provides eartags for sacrificial animals and places stickers at the shelters that have been inspected.

She further mentioned that the 6,500 animals had been examined from 53 locations and declared healthy with the issuance of Animal Health Certificates (SKKH).

"The number will certainly continue to increase, considering that inspections are conducted up to the day before Eid al-Adha across 10 sub-districts in South Jakarta," she noted.

Meanwhile, a sacrificial animal trader in Jagakarsa, Nur Wahid, said he was grateful that his place had been inspected and he received education from the South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency.

According to him, the monitoring and inspection of sacrificial animals are very useful as learning opportunities, allowing any shortcomings to be addressed in terms of shelter quality, feed, and other aspects.

"My business has been operating since 2014 and the sacrificial animals come from Magetan, East Java. Alhamdulillah, no dangerous diseases have ever been found in the sacrificial animals sold from my place," he stated.
