Stern Sanction to Public Minivans Outside the Normal Route

As a public response over case of sexual harassment in the public minivan (angkot) a few days ago, the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department will take stern sanction against public minivans which operate out of the normal route.

Uniform Sold, Public Minivan Driver Ticketed

As reported before, an employee of the shopping center in Gandaria became a victim of sexual harassment in Tanjung Barat, last Friday (6/19). This depraved action was committed by a driver of D 01 public minivan. Supposedly, its route is in Kebayoran Lama-Ciputat.

Head of South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Priyanto asserted that his sub-department will take stern action against public minivan drivers who operate outside of their route.

“We've stopped and warned the drivers who operate out of the route. Even, some were controlled by us,” he expressed, Thursday (6/25).

But his sub-department could not revoke those drivers' route permit because its authority lies in Jakarta Transportation Department.

“In South Jakarta, is still in our monitoring. We can only warn and stop them without revoking route permits,” he disclosed.
