Kopaja Drivers Salary to Be Paid Double from UMP

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) is going to pay Kopaja drivers' salary with per month system as is the case with Transjakarta bus driver. Its salary will be paid double in accordance with the provincial minimum wage (UMP).

Director of PT Transjakarta, Antonius NS Kosasih acknowledged that the contract agreement with Kopaja is still being proceed. The contract would set the salary nominal for Kopaja drivers integrated with Transjakarta.

“Kopaja drivers' salary will be paid higher or double from UMP,” he said, Thursday (6/25).

Kosasih explicated the salary itself is calculated based on the quantity of rupiah per kilometer that until now still being discussed by both management.

“The salary will be reflected in rupiah per kilometer which include the cost of the driver's monthly income,” he uttered.

By using such system, the Kopaja drivers will be more orderly in future. Above all, the passengers is also believed to be more convenient to use the mass transportation.

“If you're waiting for a bus at a crossroads, you will not be picked up. In future, every driver could only carry 20-30 passengers. This is for passenger comfort,” he expressed.

In addition, he added, the Kopaja bus fares will be equated with Transjakarta bus through e-money transaction.

“We’re still figuring out how to carry passengers out of from corridor, maybe we will send officer to be in charge at a stop for taping,” he disclosed.
