The streetlights on several roads, buildings, and other specific locations in Jakarta were turned off from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

He explained the figures indicate that this energy-saving action has a real impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions while also saving costs. He appreciated the participation of residents who took part in this Energy Saving Action this time.
"Thus, we all have awareness of energy conservation to address climate change," he explained.
He added the energy-saving action yesterday was the second time this year, previously held on Earth Day. This is part of the Jakarta Government's efforts to socialize the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030.
"This is based on the Governor's Call Number 14/2021 on the Implementation of Light Outage for the Energy Saving Action and Carbon Emission Reduction," he added, Monday (6/16).
This program would continue for a year with the hope of encouraging Jakarta residents to adopt energy-saving behaviors in their daily lives.
According to him, it could be taken by all residents of Jakarta starting from their own homes. Some simple energy-saving steps such as using LED lights, unplugging unused chargers, efficiently setting the AC temperature, and turning off electrical appliances when not in use can make a significant contribution.
"If done consistently, it will promote the realization of a sustainable Jakarta," he assessed.
As information, the streetlights were turned off on several main and arterial roads in Jakarta, including iconic Jakarta landmarks such as Monas, Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, Welcome Statue at Bundaran HI, Youth Statue, General Sudirman Statue, and Jakarta City Hall. They were dark for 60 minutes.
