24 June to 25 August 2015, City Eliminates Vehicle Tax Penalties

To commemorate 488th Jakarta Anniversary while optimizing local tax revenue, Jakarta Tax Service Department (DPP) issued a policy to eliminate penalties of Motor Tax Vehicle (PKB) that late payment and vehicle-ownership transfer fees (BBNKB) in capital.

Technical Management Unit (UPT) Head of Information Service and Provincial Tax Counseling of Jakarta Tax Service Department, Andri Kunarso said, the program is based on Jakarta Tax Service Department Head No. 1044 Year 20154 on Administrative Sanctions PKB and BBNKB Elimination.

"Starting from 24 June to 25 August 2015, we will remove all penalties for Jakarta residents who late paying their vehicle tax," he told, Friday (6/26).

Until April 2015, 154 Taxpayers Proposed Tax Payment Relief

Kunarso explained, his side had socialized this program through banner installation in each of One-Stop Administration Centers (Samsat) office. The program is expected to facilitate resident to pay their indebted tax.

"We suggest all residents to pay their tax because we will eliminate their penalties even though it has been many years," he explained.

Based on Kunarso, the residents who late in paying PKB tax will get penalty or interest as many as 2 percent from indebted tax.  The penalty will be accumulated each month until the main tax is paid.

"So, they should pay 20 percent penalty if they late to pay tax for 10 months. The penalty only applies up to 2 years. So if the resident late paying for five years, the penalties only imposed for 2 years or 48 percent," he explained.

Moreover, Kunarso's side targeted as many as 30 percent of the resident who have indebted tax could pay their tax during this program.

"Based on our data from 2010 to 2015, 3 of 6.1 million motorcycles in Jakarta still not pay their tax with indebted tax of Rp 395 billion," told Kunarso.

Furthermore, Kunarso added, 400 thousand of 2 million cars also have indebted tax of Rp 500 billion. If all of it is totaled, the result could be reached Rp 895 billion. "10 percent of the tax revenue would be used for the construction and maintenance of road infrastructure and transportation modes.

Based on that, He hoped, this program could optimize local tax revenue from PKB and BBNKB.

"We hope Jakarta resident want to pay their indebted tax because this program," he disclosed.
