The Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a vibrant series of events to celebrate Jakarta's 498th Anniversary. The grand finale of the celebration will take place at Lapangan Taman Banteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (6/22).

"This is the first time the Jakarta Anniversary celebration will be held at Lapangan Banteng . Why there? It's a form of appreciation," said Pramono at RW 09 Community Hall, Rawa Buaya Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-district, West Jakarta, on Friday (6/20).

Pramono explained that Lapangan Banteng was chosen as the main celebration venue because its operational hours have now been extended to 24 hours. The celebration will begin with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by Jakarta Council (DPRD) Plenary Session.

In the afternoon, there will be a gathering with community leaders and ambassadors from friendly nations. The peak of the event will take place in the evening at Lapangan Banteng.

Raising theme "Jakarta as a Global and Cultured City", the grand event of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary will focus to Jakarta's identity as a metropolitan city that continues to uphold cultural values.

Moreover, Governor Pramono also mentioned that one of Jakarta's Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMDs) will be officially inaugurated.

For information, the Jakarta Transportation Agency will implement a special fare of Rp1 and extend operating hours for public transportation services, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta to celebrate Jakarta's 498th Anniversary.

This policy will be in effect for 24 hours on June 22, from 00:00 to 23:59 WIB.
