200 Cats in Kebayoran Baru Sterilized For Free

Some 200 local cats in Kebayoran Baru Sub-district have undergone free sterilization initiated by the South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP).

Our target is 2,000 cats this year

This sterilization in the Blok M Square area, Melawai Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, was realized through a collaboration with the Indonesian Environmental Care Foundation (YPLI).

South Jakarta Livestock and Animal Health Section Head, Irawati Harry Artharini said, sterilization is aimed to control the cat population and to maintain the health of pets.

"Yesterday was the third sterilization we done in August 2025. Two of the sterilizations were general, and one was done using the Trap Neuter Return or TNR method," she expressed, Wednesday (8/27).

She detailed, the successfully sterilized cats consist of 150 males and 50 females.

"Our target is 2,000 cats this year," she explained.

She added, sterilization at Blok M Square also featured a Veterinarian Talk with speaker Dr. Dian Putri Gupitasari from Scientific Expert Nestlé Purina Petcare, who discussed the topic "Spaying Cats = Caring."

One of the cat keepers, Aurelia (24), thanked the organizers for holding a free cat sterilization.

"Sterilization at the veterinary clinic is quite expensive for me, especially since I have more than one cat. This free sterilization really helps a lot," she admitted.
