Protest Action, Jakarta Loses Rp 51.1 Billion

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the losses due to damage to public facilities during the protest in Jakarta are estimated to reach Rp 51.1 billion. This damage includes infrastructures of Transjakarta bus stop, MRT, CCTV, and others.

He detailed that the damage affected 22 Transjakarta shelters, both BRT and non-BRT stops. Of these, six shelters were burned and looted, while the remaining 16 shelters suffered damage such as broken glass and vandalism. Additionally, one toll gate was also affected by the action.

This statement was conveyed by Pramono after holding a Coordinating Forum of Jakarta Regional Leaders (Forkopimda) meeting that discussed the latest developments in the capital.

"Regarding the estimated damages, infrastructure damage for MRT Jakarta is approximately Rp 3.3 billion. Transjakarta is around Rp 41.6 billion. Then, infrastructure damage to CCTV and others is Rp 5.5 billion. The total damage amounts to Rp 51.1 billion," he expressed, at Jakarta City Hall, Monday (9/1).

He explained that the cleaning of all damaged bus stops has started since last Saturday. He also mentioned that the Jakarta Government will soon repair all affected bus stops due to the protest actions.

He also targets that the improvement of Transjakarta bus stops and MRT stations will be completed by September 8 to 9, 2025. As for the funding for the repairs, it will be sourced from contingency funds.

"We have already sought permission from the Attorney General to provide assistance, and of course, contingency funds will be used for that," he explained.

He added that as of September 1 at 5 AM, all Transjabodetabek service routes in 14 corridors are operating normally.

"There are indeed some minor obstacles, but we are confident that everything is now back to normal," he added.

He reiterated that transportation services, both Transjakarta and MRT, are free from August 31 to September 7, 2025, in conjunction with the ongoing improvements. The subsidy funds used for free transportation during that week amount to approximately Rp 18 billion.

Regarding the continuation of remote learning and the advisory for workers to work from home (WFH), he would adjust according to the on-site situation.

"It depends on how the situation develops; if in one or two days everything goes back to normal, we will lift the work-from-home arrangement," he closed.
