Legislator is Proud Jakarta Public Transportation Ranks 17th in the World

Jakarta Legislative Council Commissiin B Member, Ismail admits to being proud of Jakarta's achievement, ranking 17th out of 50 of the world's best cities in public transportation according to the Time Out 2025 survey.

We should be proud

According to him, this achievement is the result of a consistent transportation development roadmap carried out by the Jakarta Government.

"We should be proud, even though this is not the end, as there are still many targets we need to pursue," he expressed, at City Council building, Tuesday (9/9).

DPRD: Governor Pramono's Programs Address Jakarta's Needs

He added, the Jakarta Government still needs to improve several aspects, ranging from expanding access, adding transportation modes, to enhancing service quality.

"What is more important is how many people consciously switch from private vehicles to public transportation, which has now become more complete, comfortable, and safe," he added.

He assessed, the Jakarta Government's commitment to improving the safety, affordability, and service of public transportation has yielded tangible results.

"When it was achieved, and Jakarta's ranking improved, we should indeed give appreciation," he stressed.

Previously, Jakarta ranked 17th in the world and second in Southeast Asia, only behind Singapore. Jakarta managed to surpass other major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Bangkok.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung described this achievement as a global recognition of the capital's transportation progress. Hopefully, Jakarta's position could continue to improve in the coming years.
