N. Jakarta Residents Trained on Agricultural Product Diversification

North Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency held a training session on Agricultural Product Diversification at RPTRA Sungai Bambu, Jakan Jati Raya, RT 10/06, Sungai Bambu Urban Village, Tanjung Priok, with a total of 42 participants representing 6 sub-districts across North Jakarta.

"The goal is to enhance their skills in processing agricultural products in innovative, healthy, and nutritious ways,"

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto, mentioned that the training is an annual routine program. However, this session specifically targeted communities affected by stunting who are registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

"The goal is to enhance their skills in processing agricultural products in innovative, healthy, and nutritious ways, especially for children in their growth phase," he explained on Tuesday (10/7).

In collaboration with SMKN 33 Jakarta’s Culinary Arts Department, participants learned to prepare nutritious dishes such as Chicken Sate Lilit, Stir-fried Mustard Greens, Tempeh Katsu with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Purple Sweet Potato Cheese Spring Rolls, and Rainbow Red Bean Soup.

"Participants were very enthusiastic, engaging actively during the presentations and also practicing the preparation of these dishes. After the session, each participant received a free blender," he said.

He hopes this training will raise public awareness that consuming nutritious food is a concrete step toward preventing stunting and improving children's quality of life.

"This training will continue. Tomorrow, we will hold a similar session aimed at small business owners fostered by the North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency," he added.

Tanjung Priok Sub-district Deputy Head, expressed his full support and appreciation for the training, noting that participants not only gained new skills but also learned the importance of diverse agricultural product preparations and hygienic, attractive food presentation for children.

"This activity is very important for parents. Hopefully, they can apply what they learn at home and improve their children's nutritional intake," he asserted.

On the other hand, Jayanti Mandasari (35), a resident of Sukapura Urban Village, shared that this was her first time attending such training.

She said the program was very beneficial and helpful in adding variety to the menus she cooks at home, especially using local agricultural products.

"Thank you to the North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency for providing this training. I hope this activity can be held more often so I can prepare many varied and nutritious meals at home," she expressed.
