As many as 5,355 malfunctioned street lights spread across six sub-districts have been repaired from January to October 2025.

Infrastructure and Urban Utility Facilities and Street Lights Section Head, Untung Pitoyo said, repairs are made based on citizen complaints through JAKI application, social media, parliament recesses, superior requests, and field officer monitoring results.
"The damage to the lamp is caused by the lamp component, wiring network, or missing cables. It can also be due to issues with the electrical panel," he expressed, Thursday (11/13).

"We immediately fix if there are reports. Usually, we send a team of four people to the location," he explained.
He explained each team has one fleet unit and supporting equipment. Repairs within the alley are carried out using a medium-sized truck, supplemented by a seven-meter-high ladder unit. Meanwhile, on the main road, a larger ladder truck is used.
"We are on standby 24 hours a day and divided into three shifts. Complaints received will be followed up within a maximum of 2x24 hours," he explained.
He went on to say that street lights could break down at any time. Therefore, residents should not hesitate to report if they find a malfunctioned street light.
Such action received appreciation from the resident, Tamara (29) from Kelapa Gading Sub-district.
According to her, good lighting could provide a sense of safety and comfort for residents when crossing, and even improve community mobility and facilitate social and economic access.
"Be grateful and thank you because the lighting in North Jakarta is already very good, which certainly helps the community in their activities, especially at night," she closed.
