Residents Appreciate Improved Lighting on Panggang Island

The installation of public street lights by Seribu Islands' Technical Work Unit 2 at Kolam Labuh Kapal Nelayan, RW 01, Panggang Island Urban Village, Seribu Utara Islands is appreciated by local residents.

Head of RT 03/01, Panggang Island Urban Village, Abdul Rohim appreciate the effort since it is able to improve the quality of lighting in their environment.

"Residents are very grateful that the Kolam Labuh area has finally been lit. Fishermen have previously struggled with loading and unloading at night. The streetlights have made their activities safer and more comfortable," he said, Wednesday (12/3).

Abdul added that the residents support the public street light installation and are ready to assist if needed.

Head of Lighting Section of UKT 2 Seribu Islands Regency, Wibi Abdi explained the public street lights are installed at Kolam Labuh as it is the main activity route for fishermen.

"Lighting in the area is important to support fishing activities at night," he explained.

According to him, there are eight installation areas to be completed this week. His side deploys seven personnel assisted with local PPSU personnel everyday.

"It is hoped that the economic activities of fishermen on Panggang Island will run more smoothly and safely, especially during the night hours," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Panggang Island Urban Village, Jamaluddin the public street light installation is based on local residents' requests.

"Many residents work as fishermen and usually carry out activities at night," he stated.
