Homecomers Activity in Bus Terminal Declined Sharply

The rise of free homecoming program and cheap car sales, has led to the deterioration number of homecomers who use terminal in 5 municipalities in Jakarta. Until D-3 of Eid ul-Fitr or peak of homecoming flow, its number is only 27,709 passengers.

Whereas, in the same period last year, the number of homecomers was reaching 34,484 passengers

“Whereas, in the same period last year, the number of homecomers was reaching 34,484 passengers,” said Head of Terminal Technical Management (UPT) for Jakarta Transportation Department, Muslim, Thursday (7/16).

D-2, Pulogadung Terminal Still Quiet

The decline in passenger numbers, causing some departure through inter-city inter-province (AKAP) bus had to be cancelled.

“Whereas, we’ve checked all bus pools since D-15 to monitor the fleet readiness, yet a number of homecomers this year decline compared to last year,” he expressed.

He assessed it is caused by some reasons. Among them are cheap car sales and a lot of people using private vehicles for homecoming.

At the peak of returning flow, is predicted to hit D+3 of Eid ul-Fitr. Considering, most offices would have to operate normally as usual.
