Ahok Named Giraffe from Australia, Dirgah & Ayuri 70

The animal collection in Ragunan zoo, South Jakarta is getting up. A pair of giraffes from Tarongan Zoo Sydney, Australia completed the collection in the zoo which was established since 1864.

We agreed to name the male giraffe Dirgah with letter “H”

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama together with President Director and CEO PT Indosat, Alexander Rusli named those giraffes Dirgah and Ayuri 70.

“We agreed to name the male giraffe Dirgah with letter “H”, if it doesn’t attached many people will be offended,” he said in Ragunan Zoo, South Jakarta, Tuesday (8/18).

According to him, such name was inspired from the term of “Dirgahayu” as considered Indonesia just celebrated the 70th Independence Day.

The arrival of a pair of 10-month-old giraffe is through the cooperation of Sister Province Cooperation between City Administration and New South Wales. One of the implementation is through animals breeding loan cooperation between Ragunan Zoo and Taronga Zoo, Sydney, Australia.

“I hope this animal could attract more visitors,” he stated.
